The Scholarship Program
Through the generosity of several individuals, Westhampton Church initiated a scholarship program that is available to the active young people of the church. Information about the program is posted on the youth bulletin board outside the fellowship hall or an application can be obtained by calling the church office,
804-288-4903. As funds become available, awards are made once each summer for the subsequent academic year. Ken Lantz is chair of this committee.
Softball Team
The Softball Team operates within the framework of the program sponsored by the Richmond Department of Recreation and Parks for what is generally called “the summer, slow-pitch, church softball league.” Most games are played during early evenings at the Westhampton Public School ball field, located just two blocks east of Westhampton Church. Sponsorship of the team is provided by the united Methodist Men, with players providing their own uniforms. Players on the team come from other neighborhood churches as well.
WesthamptonDay School:
The Westhampton Day School has been apart of Westhampton United Methodist Church's commitment to the surrounding community for over forty years. The school, operating from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on weekdays provides caring instruction for ages groups 2 through kindergarten. Lessons in art, music, dance, recreation and physical education are also included. Morning and afternoon snacks, as well as balanced and nutritious lunches, are provided. Opportunities for field trips to museums, special events, swimming instruction, and selected theater events are available. An after-school program is provided, with transportation, for older youngsters in other public and private school programs. Approximately one-hundred and forty children are enrolled in the School. For more information, visit the Day School's website at or contact Day School Director Lynne Cox at (804) 282-7459.
